The COVID-19 pandemic has changed virtually everything about our daily lives. Many people are adjusting to the unique challenges of working from home. Grocery store runs have become a potentially dangerous affair. Communication with loved ones is often filtered through a screen. Even your dentist in Towson is no exception to these changes. Here’s a quick guide to what you can expect before, during, and after your first appointment with them in this new era.
Before Your Appointment
A few days prior to your appointment, a member of your dentist’s staff may contact you and ask you a few quick questions regarding your health status. They might ask you whether you have any of the common symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) or if you’ve recently come into contact with someone who does. These practices minimize the risk of outside pathogens entering the office and infecting others.
During Your Appointment
You might notice that your dentist and their team members look a little different. They will be wearing increased personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to protect both you and them from germ transmission. After Your Appointment
Your dentist isn’t seeing as many patients as they used to, so there is very little risk that you’ll bump into another patient on your way out the door. Once you leave, the staff will take great care to thoroughly disinfect every surface you could have touched.
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of your appointment, call your dentist right away. You may have been unknowingly spreading the virus, so anyone with whom you came into physical contact could be at risk. Let your dentist know so they can take extra precautions to keep themselves and other patients safe.
